Conference Venue

All plenary and parallel sessions will take place in the main building of the University of Latvia, Raina bulv. 19, in an immediate proximity to the Old City, in the very heart of Riga.

This building for the higher education institution has been built and extended in the timespan from 1866 to 1909 by a German architect G. Hilbig. The materials used for the construction were inter alia granite from Bornholm (Denmark) and yellowish brickstone from England. Romanesque, Byzantine, Renaissance architectural forms have been used while building the main building of the university.

Computers with internet connection will be available for conference delegates in a special Computer Room, as well as wireless connection will be available.

Lunches and coffee/tea breaks

Lunches and coffee/tea breaks (included in the conference registration fee for participants) will be served in the self-service university restaurant, in the basement floor of the University’s main building. Typically Latvian meals will be served as well as vegetarian and international meals.

Registration Desk

Registration desk will be located in the lobby of the main building.

Transport during the conference

As the venue of the conference and social events will take place in the very centre of the city, special transportation facilities will be not provided if not announced. Public transport in Riga is cheap and taxis are relatively inexpensive.

There is only on-ground public transport in Riga. Riga’s public transport system consists of buses, trams and trolley buses. They run daily from 5:30 a/m till approximately 11:30 p/m. Tickets are bought on board and cost 0,50 LVL. 10 tickets, if bought in press kiosks in advance cost cheaper – 3,80 LVL.

Visas and residence permits

International Relations Department of the University of Latvia will prepare invitation letters for conference delegates from countries that need visa for entering Latvia.
